Connecting New Zealand food with Korea

The New Zealand Embassy will hold a food fair this week.

The event, the second of its kind, aims to introduce fresh premium food and beverages of New Zealand to Korean industry experts and promote long-term cooperation between the two country’s industries.

The “New Zealand Food Connection 2011” will be held on Nov. 15 at the Plaza Hotel in Seoul.

New Zealand Trade and Enterprise explained that this year’s event will be larger than last year’s and will include 20 representatives from food and beverage companies including Zespri, Beef and Lamb New Zealand, and Fonterra.

The event will also showcase products such as meat, fruit, honey, organic juices, liquor, dairy and sauces, many of which will be on display for the first time in the Korean market.

“We have expanded our range of food and beverage export products and a good example is the recent launch of Airborne Honey, which was introduced to Korean market through E-Mart,” said Graeme Solloway, Trade Commissioner of New Zealand Trade and Enterprise.

“I fully expect all first-time food and beverage participating companies from New Zealand to achieve success here in the Korean market as our events have been of special interest to industry professionals from major hotels, restaurants and wine bars,” he added.

The event will begin with a presentation from Graeme Solloway of NZTE entitled “Vision of the New Zealand Food Industry.” Another talk will follow from Dr. Choi Jia, a professor at Ewha Women’s University on “Conceptualizing New Zealand’s product through story.”

The talks will be followed by a display of premium New Zealand food and beverage products for all in attendance to savor.
