K-pop group TVXQ and girl group T-ara topped Japan’s Oricon Weekly Charts for the week of Sept. 28.

TVXQ’s “Tone” sold more than 205,000 copies in the first week of its release to top the albums chart, while T-ara’s “Bo Peep Bo Peep” sold more than 50,000 copies to be the number one single.

Oricon said it was the first time Korean artists have dominated both the album and single weekly charts since it began announcing Oricon album rankings in January 1970.

TVXQ is the first foreign male artist or group to exceed 200,000 album sales in 11 years and four months since Bon Jovi’s album “Crash” was released in May 2000.

This is the second time the group topped Oricon’s album chart ― the first was in February 2010 when they released “Best Selection 2010.”

T-ara became the first foreign female artist or group in Japan to top the Oricon singles chart in the first week of a song release.
