Danish Photo Marathon this week

Shutterbugs get your cameras ready and dust out your lenses, the Danish Embassy is holding their first photography competition with a twist.

Participants have 24 hours to take five photos inspired by the five themes that will be announced on the day.

The first and longest running Photo Marathon was first held in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1989 and has been an annual event ever since taking place in all stops between Washington D.C. and Sydney, Australia.

The five themes will be announced on the SLR Club homepage at midnight on Sept. 23. From then it’s off to the races so to speak because within the next 24 hours participants must take and upload five photos to the SLR Club homepage.

Only pictures taken on that day and uploaded before midnight Sept. 24 will be accepted as contest entries.

For the first time, Seoul is one of the numerous cities taking part in this international competition organized by the Danish Embassy together with the SLR Club, energy-efficient pump manufacturer Grundfos, high-end camera and photography equipment maker Hasselblad, Scandinavian Airlines, fashion brand DAY Birger et Mikkelsen and tableware manufacturer Royal Copenhagen.

Even though the themes are kept secret until midnight Sept. 23, they are expected to be general requiring no preparation by participants.

The contest is open to all members of the SLR Club and it is possible to sign up anytime through their homepage.

First prize for the Grundfos 2011 Photo Marathon is a photo holiday in Copenhagen including return airfare with Scandinavian Airlines or one of its Star Alliance partners and three-night accommodation.

Second prize is a million won while two 3rd place prizes will be sponsored by DAY Birger et Mikkelsen and Royal Copenhagen.
