Shinhan Bank announced Monday that it would open a department dedicated to foreign customers.
Brian Hwang, who will lead the creation of the new 8-member department, said it would concentrate on staff training, website improvement, and creation of clear, consistent policies to improve services to expats. He added that Shinhan Bank would open more desks and branches dedicated to foreign customers.
Hwang was previously head of Shinhan Bank Global Center, a branch of the bank dedicated to foreign customers in the Seoul Finance Center.
“Foreigners account for 2 percent of Korea’s population and the number continues to grow, yet the banking services available in Korea today do not adequately reflect the needs of this underserved population. We are now stepping up to meet this challenge,” said Hwang.
