[Editorial] Korea Herald birthday

Today, The Korea Herald entered its 59th year as Korea’s window to the world and bridge to the global community, a job performed with a strong sense of dedication to public service. Born only a few weeks after the cease-fire of the Korean War, the English-language newspaper has been published without interruption, covering the tremendous social, economic and political transformations few nations have ever experienced.

We take pride in the efforts the newspaper has made over the past six decades to promote communication between Korea and the international community and increase understanding and cooperation among different elements in the increasingly multinational and multicultural society. This has been done under the great challenges of digital revolution which required a great deal of innovation in the information business.

This anniversary offers an opportunity for all involved in the newspaper to renew their pledge to guide readers faithfully through the flood of information, to keep them abreast of developments worldwide and help them reach intellectual satisfaction. Global citizens are solicited to make use of this medium for whatever pursuits of life they have.
