Michael Jackson art auctioned for orphans

A Michael Jackson tribute night is to raise money for a Korean orphanage for disabled kids.

A painting of the legend often hailed the King of Pop will be auctioned to raise cash for Angel House’s 50 disabled residents at the 3rd Annual MJ Tribute at Club Genie in Seoul’s Itaewon district.

Michael Jackson T-shirts will also be sold to raise funds at the event to run from 10:30 p.m. this Friday, which will also feature a dance contest.

Angel House receives weekly visits from expat volunteers, who cook for, help and play with residents every Saturday.

The center in Goyang City was started by Jang Soon-ok, a disabled orphan herself, in 1993.

Angel House needs 480 kg of rice a month to feed the kids and is looking for any donations of this, hot pepper paste and cooking oil as well as general household products such as diapers, laundry detergent and rubber gloves. They are also looking for donations of used computers and a washing machine.

Anyone wishing to donate or get more information about the charity can call (031) 963-6506.
