Fans dedicated a Facebook group to a local celebrity to make him the town’s official Olympic torch bearer, according to reports.
Gordon Roberts from Bournemouth, England, is getting the support of 4,500 people who plan to nominate him as their “inspirational member of the community.”
With his trademark white beard, scarf and jacket, the 82-year-old is known as a “big part of the community and always stops to chat to people.”
Gordon is famous for his supernatural ability for guessing the time. Many people have uploaded videos of Roberts proving his time-telling skills. Although not always exact, his margin of error is minimal.
The Olympic Torch Relay will take place in the U.K. from May 19 to July 27, 2012. Olympics sponsors such as Samsung and Coca-Cola have advertised the torch bearing competition and the organizing committee will select 8000 bearers to carry the flame for 300 meters each.
