A shuffleboard tournament is to be held at a Bundang bar this Friday to raise cash for North Korean kids.
The awareness and fund-raising event is being held at Travelers Bar and Grill to support the charity Love North Korean Children.
The event has been organized by cyclists who are set to bike the Balkans this May in a bid to raise $10,000 for the charity that funds bakeries feeding North Korean kids.
Four Americans are set to bike in a giant loop though 13 Eastern European countries from Turkey as part of their sponsorship mission. Andrew Godlewski and Suzanne Heibel, who are teaching English in South Korea, are to make the trip with their friends Stephen Sessions and Katie Tibbetts, who recently returned to the U.S. after teaching here. They will embark on their three-month, 5,000-kilometer journey on May 20 to benefit the bakeries by raising sponsorship and selling bracelets for the cause along the way.
Godlewski and Heibel will be at the bar in Bundang from 8 p.m. on Friday to provide more information about the project and to host the shuffleboard tourney, which will begin at 10 p.m. It will cost 5,000 won per person for those wishing to enter the doubles event, with a bottle of Jameson whiskey as the prize.
Another bottle of liquor will be raffled and bracelets sold in support of the charity. For more information on the Biking the Balkans team and the Love North Korean Children project, visit www.bikingthebalkans.com.
