Itaewon Global Village Center volunteers will participate in a range of activities in January starting with a trip to a center for disabled people.
Participants will visit the Yongsan Center for the Disabled from 2-4:30 p.m. on Jan. 13. Volunteers will help center users to make crafts to sell on in the local area, raising some money for the makers.
Another event will see volunteers visit the Yongsan Senior Welfare Center from 1:30-3 p.m. on Jan. 16. English speakers are invited to do some free-talking with seniors taking an English class at the center.
“Our visits give them a chance to meet foreigners from around the world and use the English they are learning,” said Itaewon Global Village Center director Paul Hussey.
“You do not need to be a native English speaker to join this activity and it is a great chance for cultural exchange as well.”
This month’s final volunteer activity will be a trip to Haeshimwon Orphanage on Jan. 30.
Volunteers will help orphanage staff to serve the kids living there food, clear up after dinner and take care of the babies from 5-6:30 p.m.
