2NE1's 'Crush' among this year's 20 best pop albums: U.S. magazine

"Crush," the second full-length album released by South Korea's popular girl group 2NE1, has been chosen among the 20 Best Pop Albums of 2014 by an influential U.S. music magazine, its management said Monday.

"Crush" ranked sixth on the list recently released by Rolling Stone magazine, which also included albums by global pop stars such as Taylor Swift's "1989," Pharrell Williams' "Girl," Ariana Grande's "My Everything" and Maroon 5's "V," YG Entertainment said.

2NE1 is the only Asian act on the list.

"Female foursome 2NE1, buoyed by a cameo on The Bachelor, moved more units of their album in its first week of release than any previous Korean act," the magazine said in an online article on the ranking.

"Crush's centerpiece is "MTBD," which spotlights group member CL on a bratty squirt of EDM-hip-pop with a bubblegum trap groove," it said.

Released in February, "Crush" set a new record as the highest-charting K-pop album in the country in March, ranking 61st on the Billboard 200 albums' chart. (Yonhap
