Park’s value worth more than W14b

South Korean soccer star Park Ji-sung’s value is worth more than 14 billion won ($12.4 million), the highest among Korean soccer players, according to a report.

The TransferMarkt, a soccer portal website, recently updated the profile of players based in Europe. According to the website, the Manchester United midfielder’s market value is 9.5 million euro, or approximately 14.2 billion won, down from 11.5 million euro in 2010.

Lee Chung-yong of the Bolton Wanderers is the second highest valued Korean player at 7.5 million euro.

Park Chu-young, who plays with the Arsenal, was ranked third with 6 million euro, followed by Son Heung-min of the German club Hamburger SV with 4.5 million euro.

The 31-year-old Park Ji-sung, who retired from the Korean national team in 2011, is still considered one of the best soccer players here.

The first South Korean to play in the English Primer League, he made his debut with the Manchester United in 2005 after moving from the Dutch side PSV Eindhoven. Last summer he extended his contract with United until 2013.

In his seven years so far at the United, Park has won four Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FIFA Club World Cup and three League Cup winners’ medals.
