Eric Nam to release new single on Friday

Korean-American singer-songwriter Eric Nam will release a new single this week, announced his management agency CJ E&M.

The summer track “Can’t Help Myself” will be available on local music sites from midnight on July 15, and Nam will be holding a special performance of the single on Mnet’s “M Countdown” a day ahead of the official release.

Epik High’s Tablo wrote the song’s lyrics upon personal request from Nam, according to Nam’s agency. “The two have a very close, sibling-like relationship,” said CJ E&M in a press release.

The single also features rapper Loco, who was the winner of the first season of Mnet’s rap competition show “Show Me the Money” in 2012.

Born and raised in the U.S., Nam made his first television appearance in Korea in 2011 on the second season of MBC’s music survival show “Star Audition: The Great Birth,” where he made it to top five.

The 27-year-old musician is also scheduled to perform at the annual K-pop convention KCON, along with Twice, Astro, Girls’ Generation-TaeTiSeo, and others, in Los Angeles on July 29.
