4minute wows fans with special choreography video of hit song

K-pop girl group 4minute threw a special choreography practice video up on social media network YouTube as a surprise gift for its fans around the world, its star label Cube Entertainment said on Thursday.

The choreography practice video is a thank-you gesture from 4minute and Cube Entertainment for the global flurry of dance cover videos of "Hate," the title track of the band's seventh EP "Act. 7."

A dance cover is a video clip uploaded to online video-sharing services in which dancers re-enact the choreography of the original music video. The number and variety of dance cover movie clips on YouTube have become a gauge for a K-pop star's popularity in the global hallyu market.

The choreography practice movie zooms in to show every little detail of the choreography of the electronic hip hop dance song.

Cube Entertainment said this special movie was created in the form of a concept video with a high level of perfection, as is required of a televised music show. The glow-in-the dark scenes require special lighting, fog producers and plenty of special effects, the agency added.

Owing much to the global fans' penchant for 4minute's explosive moves and exotic melodies, "Hate" is at the cusp of reaching 9 million views on YouTube only 24 days since the EP's release on Feb. 1.

The song went viral in China's major music charts too, ranking No. 1 and No. 2 in YinWeiTai and QQ Music, respectively.

U.S. singer songwriter Sonny John Moore, more commonly known as DJ Skrillex, participated in the composition of the song. Moore is also known as the creator of "dubstep," a dance genre that generally features syncopated drum and percussion patterns with bass lines that contain prominent sub-bass frequencies. (Yonhap)
