YB Band returns with ’70s sound

Korea’s iconic rock band YB Band will return with a ’70s-inspired new single “Flower Rain” in February, its agency Dee Company said.

In the teaser image, released on the band’s official Facebook and Instagram, five rockers, wearing ’70s vintage bold print shirts and flare pants, are cheering in joy holding a golden trophy from winning an imaginary Group Sounds competition under the placard that reads “The 20th New-Star Group Sounds Contest.”

“Flower Rain is YB’s take on the ’70s and ’80s group sounds,” said the agency.

YB plans to release more images and videos, including the full version of the music video on Feb. 3, leading up to the official release of the single on Feb. 5.

YB celebrated 20th anniversary of the band last year, holding a sold-out nationwide tour in 12 cities, including Seoul, Seongnam, Daegu and Busan.

The band, which began in 1995, has presented great versatility in music style based on the rock genre. The band’s current members are front man Yoon Do-hyun, guitarist Heo Joon, bassist Park Hee-tae, drummer Kim Jin-won and British guitarist Scott Hellowell, who joined the band in 2011.
