Incheon and KEB Hana Bank on Wednesday signed an agreement to stage the only LPGA Tour event in South Korea for three more years in the western metropolitan city.
The LPGA KEB Hana Bank Championship started out in 2002 under a different corporate sponsor. It was earlier held on Jeju Island and in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, before settling in at Sky 72 Golf Club in Incheon, adjacent to Incheon International Airport, in 2008.
This year's tournament is scheduled for Oct. 15-18 at Sky 72.
Under the new agreement, the organizers will select a new venue in Incheon from 2016 to 2018.
Incheon has pledged to provide necessary administrative support for the tournament.
The tournament has drawn strong fields, and expanded from 54 holes to 72 holes last year. Past champions include South Korean stars Pak Se-ri, Grace Park and Choi Na-yeon, and international veterans Suzann Pettersen and Yani Tseng. (Yonhap)
