Two of South Korea’s best-known pianists, Cho Jeong-jin and Lim Yun-chan are to return to Carnegie Hall next year.

As part of Carnegie Hall’s Great Artists series, Cho, the first prize winner of the 2015 International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland, will celebrate the 150th birthday of Ravel by performing the composer’s complete solo piano works on Feb. 5, 2025.

It will mark the pianist’s fourth performance at the hall since his debut there in 2022, stepping in for pianist Denis Matsuev, to perform Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with Nezet-Seguin and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.

On May 17 this year, the 28-year-old is set to perform Haydn’s Piano Sonata in E Minor, Hob. XVI: 34, Maurice Ravel’s "Menuet Sur Le Nom D'haydn" and "Le Tombeau De Couperin," as well as Liszt’s "Annees De Pelerinage: Deuxieme Annee (Italie)."

Lim, the youngest musician to ever win the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, is set to make his debut at Carnegie Hall in New York on Wednesday as part of Keyboard Virtuosos with Chopin’s Trois Nouvelles Etudes, 12 Etudes Op. 10 and Chopin's 12 Etudes Op. 25.

Lim will return to Carnegie Hall in April 2025, to perform Bach’s Goldberg Variations and Webern’s Variations for Piano, Op. 27 in April 2025 as part of the Keyboard Virtuosos series, according to Carnegie Hall’s 2024-25 season schedule unveiled this week.
