Kia to recall 256,000 Souls in U.S.

South Korea's No. 2 carmaker Kia Motors Corp. is voluntarily recalling 256,000 units of its box-shaped vehicle, the Soul, in the United States due to faulty steering, the company said Sunday.

Kia Motors said the models include those produced between 2014-2016, along with an electric model.

The recall is to fix defective adhesives used in the automobile's steering that could cause parts to fall apart.

Kia said the problem does not pose an immediate danger to safety.

The company said it plans to conduct the recall measures for the same model sold in South Korea as well.

In July, Kia Motors recalled 2,597 Sorento SUVs in the U.S. due to faulty seat belts.

Earlier in March, more than 12,000 units of the same Sorento SUV model were recalled in the U.S. to fix abnormalities in the accelerator pedal. (Yonhap)
