The number of subscribers of premium TV channels surpassed 30 million in the first half of the year for the first time, government data showed.
According to the Ministry of Science and ICT, about 30.4 million people were subscribing to pay TV channels in the first half, an increase of more than 830,000 from the previous half.
More than 6 million, or 20 percent, were subscribing to KT, while 4 million were paying for an Internet Protocol television service by SK Broadband. CJ Hellovision, the cable TV arm of CJ Group, had 3.95 million subscribers, followed by t-broad and KT SkyLife, which held 10.59 percent and 10.53 percent of market share, respectively.
