Korea-Arab Society to hold Arab Cultural Fest

The 5th Arab Cultural Festival will be held at COEX in southern Seoul from Thursday through Sunday, the Korea-Arab Society said Monday.

The festival’s programs include a performance by the Jordanian National Folkloric Group and a photo exhibition on Arab culture and tourism. Visitors will also have the opportunity to try on traditional Arab clothing and learn the Arabic alphabet.

The Jordanian National Folkloric Group will perform at COEX from Thursday through Saturday and in Yeosu on Sunday, where the International Exposition Yeosu Korea 2012 is being held.

Meanwhile, the Moroccan Andalusian Orchestra will perform traditional Moroccan music in Yeosu on June 17 and at the National Theater in Seoul on June 19.

This year, South Korea marks the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties with both Jordan and Morocco.

The Korea-Arab Society was launched in August 2008 to promote friendship and cooperation between South Korea and the Arab world.

The society organized the fourth Korea-Arab Friendship Caravan in October 2011 and the Arab Cultural Festival in June 2011.
