Roy Kim to hold first nationwide tour

Superstar K4 winner Roy Kim will embark on his first nationwide concert tour in July that will take him to Seoul, Daejeon, Daegu and Busan.

The 20-year-old singer was the winner of the music audition program “Superstar K4” last year and has since made a name for himself as an acoustic, folk country singer. He released his debut digital single, “Spring, Spring, Spring” in April and topped the local music charts as well the Hot 100 K-pop Billboard chart.

Soon after the song’s release, however, Kim was plagued with accusations of plagiarism by netizens. The self-composed single was accused to have similarities with ’90s folk rock singer Kim Kwang-seok’s “Where the Wind Blows” as well as A-ha’s ’80s pop song “Take On Me.”

Although it has been reported that Roy admitted that Kwang-seok is one of his favorite artists, the singer and his agency CJ Entertainment have denied all plagiarism claims, stating that the accusations are baseless.

Last month, Roy took to the stage as one of the opening acts for popular American singer-songwriter Jason Mraz’s Seoul performance.

The singer’s first solo concert tickets are available online at Interpark and Auction Ticket. The tour will begin in Busan on July 6, then head to Seoul for performances at Yonsei University Main Auditorium on July 13 and 14 before heading to Daejeon and Daegu on July 19 and 20, respectively.

Roy is also scheduled to perform at this year’s Ansan Valley Rock Festival on July 26 at the Daebu Sea Breeze Theme Park in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province.
