Point Blank (France)

Thriller. Directed by Fred Cavaye. Samuel (Gilles Lellouche) is a nurse living in Paris who is happily married to his wife, Nadia (Elena Anaya). One night, however, two unknown men break into Samuel’s apartment and kidnap his seven-months-pregnant wife. The only way to have his wife back is to get one of the wounded patients out of his hospital and deliver him to the unknown forces. The patient’s name is Hugo Startet and is a wanted criminal. Samuel is told that he only has three days to complete the mission, and Nadia will be killed if he fails.
The Cloud (Germany)

Drama. Thriller. Directed by Gregor Schnitzler. In a small town near Frankfurt, Germany, high school lovers Hannah (Paula Kalenberg) and Elmar (Franz Dinda) just shared their first kiss. But everything changes when a nuclear power station nearby breaks down, and everyone tries to leave the town before the deadly radioactive rain falls. While Elmar persuades Hannah to get out of the town with him immediately, Hannah insists on going back to her house to get her younger siblings. As the deadly cloud comes closer to the town, Elmar desperately searches for Hannah who wouldn’t answer his calls.
The Hairdresser (Germany)

Comedy. Directed by Doris Dorrie. Kathi (Gabriela Maria Schmeide) is a middle-aged, big-sized unemployed hairdresser who has just returned to her hometown, Berlin, with her daughter, Julia. She has left her husband, who often cheated on her, in order to start afresh. She is very excited when she finally gets a call for an interview at a hair salon in a large shopping mall in town. She immediately gets rejected at the interview, for a reason she cannot accept -- that she is “too fat” and therefore not “suitable” for the beauty industry. Still driven and determined to make a living, Kathi decides to open a salon of her own and thinks of every possible way to make that happen.
Leafie, A Hen into the Wild (Korea)

Animation. Directed by Oh Seong-yoon. Leafie (voiced by Moon So-ri), a hen who used to live in a chicken run, finds freedom with the help of a man named Dal-soo. One day, she runs into a duck egg and sits on it. When a baby duck is finally born, Leafie names him Greenie (voiced by Yu Seung-ho) and decides to raise him as her own son. Many challenges face Leafie as she tries to live safely with Greenie in the wild. Scared yet driven, Leafie puts on a brave face and tries to survive against all the dangers of the wild, including ferocious weasels, and begins a long journey to find a safe swamp area where she can peacefully settle with her beloved son.
Incendies (Canada)
Opening July 21
Drama. Directed by Denis Villeneuve. When their mother Nawal (Lubna Azabal) dies, twins Jeanne (Melissa Desormeaux-Poulin) and Simon (Maxim Gaudette) are left with her last wishes that contain some unusual requests. She wants her twins to somehow find their father and brother and deliver the sealed letters she left for them. The twins had been told that their father was dead, and were never aware they had another sibling. While Simon thinks his mother must have gone mad before she died, Jeanne decides to respect her last wishes and takes off to the Middle East to find her real father and unknown brother.
