Toyota’s All New Avalon |
To celebrate its fourth year in Korea this month, Toyota Motor Korea said it would hold a Home Coming Day event between Oct. 19 to 27 to offer gifts and test-drive opportunities to customers visiting Toyota showrooms.
The company said that this year was particularly meaningful as Toyota was the fastest among imported carmakers to sell more than 30,000 cars since the data was first compiled in 2003.
As of September, Toyota sold 30,490 vehicles here to surpass the 30,000 mark for the first time since it launched in 2009.
The company cited the Camry as being the biggest contributor to the sales, as the car sold more than 15,000 units over the past four years.
It was also the first foreign brand to win “Car of the Year,” awarded by local auto journalists last year.
Hybrids, which are Toyota’s specialty, also accounted for a large portion of the carmaker’s sales, with models such as the Prius and Camry hybrid selling slightly over 10,000 since 2009.
Customers now have a wider choice of Toyota cars, as the lineup has been expanded to 10 including the latest luxury sedan “The All New Avalon.” The company started out with just four models: Camry, Camry hybrid, Prius and RAV4.
