Rihanna confirms Chris Brown romance

Recording artist Rihanna confirmed to Rolling Stone magazine she has reconciled with Chris Brown, the boyfriend who beat her up in Los Angeles in 2009.

Brown pleaded guilty to assault, then was ordered to perform community service and stay away from his ex-girlfriend for a brief period of time. Although the restraining order against him has been lifted, he remains on probation.

Brown was widely criticized after the incident by fans, journalists and some other musicians outraged by what he did to Rihanna. Rihanna suffered a similar backlash after rumors began flying that she had forgiven her abuser and taken him back.

"I decided it was more important for me to be happy," Rihanna told Rolling Stone, confirming for the first time she and Brown are back together. "I wasn't going to let anybody's opinion get in the way of that. Even if it's a mistake, it's my mistake. After being tormented for so many years, being angry and dark, I'd rather just live my truth and take the backlash. I can handle it."

Rihanna insisted she doesn't think Brown will physically hurt her again.

"It's different now," she said. "We don't have those types of arguments anymore. We talk about [expletive]. We value each other. We know exactly what we have now, and we don't want to lose that. ... He doesn't have the luxury of [expletive] up again. ... That's just not an option. I can't say that nothing else will ever go wrong. But I'm pretty solid in the knowing that he's disgusted by that. And I wouldn't have gone this far if I ever thought that was a possibility. He made a mistake, and he's paid his dues."

Brown allegedly has been involved in other physical confrontations since assaulting Rihanna. Singer Frank Ocean told police Brown punched him during an argument over a parking spot outside a Los Angeles-area recording studio last weekend, TMZ reported. Several people associated with both men were allegedly involved but no arrests were made.

Last year, Brown and Canadian singer Drake allegedly were in a fight at a New York nightclub that left eight people injured. No charges were brought in that case either. (UPI)

리한나 크리스브라운 재결합..대체 왜?

 “(재결합이) 더 행복한 결정이라고 생각했습니다. 아무도 제 의견에 이의를 제기하지 않도록 했을거에요. 실수라고 해도 이건 제 실수입니다. 여러 해 동안 고통받으며 어둡고 분노가 가득 차 있었는데, 이런 모습보단 차라리 제가 무엇을 원하는지 진실되게 받아들인 후 여론의 비난을 받기로 했어요. 이정도는 제가 감수할 수 있습니다” 라고 리한나는 롤링스톤지를 통해 밝혔다.

또한 리한나는 크리스브라운이 더 이상 과거와 같은 폭행사건을 저지르지 않을 것이라고 주장했다.

 “이젠 모든게 달라졌습니다. 우리는 과거와 같은 싸움을 하지 않아요. 서로를 아끼고 우리가 무엇을 가지고 있는지, 그리고 이것을 잃으면 어떠한 대가가 오는지 잘 알고 있습니다 … (중략) 아무것도 잘못되지 않을 것이라는 말은 할 수 없어요. 하지만 저는 그가 충분히 과거의 잘못에 대해 끔찍히 싫어한다는 걸 압니다. 그리고 (폭행의)가능성이 한 줌이라도 있었으면 재결합을 할 생각이 없었을 거에요. 그는 잘못을 저질렀고 충분히 반성했습니다” 라고 그녀는 덧붙였다.

크리스브라운은 리한나 폭행사건 이후 다른 물리적인 충돌에 연루된 바 있다. 팝가수 프랭크 오션은 크리스브라운과 로스앤젤레스 주차장에서 시비가 붙어 주먹을 맞았다고 경찰에 진술했다고 현지언론 TMZ가 보도했다.

작년 크리스브라운과 캐나다 출신 가수 드래이크는 뉴욕의 한 나이트클럽에서 8명에게 부상을 입힌 싸움에 가담한 혐의를 가지고 있다. 경찰 구속은 없었다. (코리아헤럴드)
