Kumho Tires cuts 13,339 tons of emissions

Kumho Tires Co., reported Friday that it has gained official recognition for having reduced a total of 13,339 tons of greenhouse gas emissions for the past five years through replacing production facilities and renewable energies.

The greenhouse gas reduction plan for the company, which was launched by Korea Energy Management Corp. in 2005, was devised in response to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. Kumho Tires, ever since becoming the first to participate in the greenhouse gas reduction project among tire companies in 2007, cut down fuel consumption by installing valcanizers and fuel economizers. It also moved into liquefied natural gas which is relatively low in gas emission.

“Kumho is not only developing eco-friendly products but also giving environmental concerns in the manufacturing process,” said a company official. “It will act as a forerunner for conservation as well as participate in the country’s green growth policy.”
