Galaxy S3 hits U.S., Mexico markets

Samsung Electronics, Korea’s tech manufacturing giant, said that its new flagship Galaxy S3 has hit the U.S. and Mexican markets this week.

It held launching ceremonies and officially released the smartphone in the U.S. on June 20, and in Mexico on June 21, both on regional time, the company said in a press release.

The company invited a number of guests in Mexico to its event held at the country’s stock exchange, while its U.S. guests included basketball players, Hollywood actresses and 500 consumers who registered to attend the New York event via Facebook.

About 1,000 consumers in New York and 400 in Mexico City, so far, have shown interest in Galaxy S3 during the event.

Samsung Electronics said that it will sell Galaxy S3, which comes in white and blue, through the distribution and sales channels of AT&T and T-Mobile in the U.S. and Mexico’s Telcel.

It plans to gradually expand its sales through Verizon Wireless, Sprint, U.S. Cellular in the U.S. and Lusacell and Movistar in Mexico.

The all-new Galaxy, with AMOLED display, comes with functions that operate the smartphone accordingly to body movement, including eye tracking. It also features “S-Voice,” allowing users to control and direct the mobile phones through voice communication systems such as raising the volume or asking questions.

The company has released the new phones in 28 markets in Europe and the Middle East in late May, and plans to introduce them in 145 more markets by July.
