Samsung Electronics chairman Lee Kun-hee told the conglomerate’s new recruits to continuously challenge themselves during a three-day workshop held in North Jeolla Province which started Wednesday.
“What is most important to new employees beginning the new chapter in their lives is to set up future goals and take on continuous challenges,” he said in a video message to the group.
The workshop, held for the 26th time this year, was attended by 8,000 new employees hired at Samsung affiliates as well as 3,000 of its executives, foreign workers and senior employees, according to Samsung officials.
As part of the event, the employees participated in volunteering projects ― such as cleaning, wall painting and assisting in farming areas ― in 147 places in five different regions, its officials said.
“We came up with the volunteering project in a bid to give them an opportunity to take part in social contribution activities and feel corporate social responsibility ahead of starting their careers,” said a Samsung official.
