Samsung inheritance spat worsens

The inheritance suit surrounding Samsung chairman Lee Kun-hee and his siblings is intensifying with elder brother Lee Maeng-hee claiming on Monday that his younger brother’s greed triggered the fight.

Lee Maeng-hee, the eldest of Samsung founder Lee Byung-chull’s children, said that Samsung chief Lee Kun-hee was the one at the center of family discord and that his inheritance was not about Samsung.

“It is my goal to correct the wrongdoings by getting the facts right and I believe the truth will be revealed throughout the lawsuit,” he said.

Lee Sook-hee, Lee Kun-hee’s older sister who has also joined the inheritance suit, said that she was enraged to hear what the Samsung chairman said about them. She also said the disputed inheritence was not Lee Kun-hee’s, but her assets kept from her for 25 years.

Samsung Group declined to comment.

Last Tuesday, Samsung chairman Lee told reporters he would not back down in the inheritance battle, vowing to even take it to the Constitutional Court.

Stating that he has no intention of giving them any money, he further said that “CJ Group has been attempting to grab the shares of Samsung because of their huge value.”
