LG Electronics Co. held a promotional event for its 3-D televisions and other gadgets at the Lotte World ice rink in Jamsil, southeastern Seoul, over the weekend.
Tens of thousands of visitors experienced LG’s 3-D technology at the two-day “LG Cinema 3-D World Festival” on the carpeted ice rink.
The company put about 300 Cinema 3-D televisions, laptops and home theaters on display and offered some 30,000 Cinema 3-D eyeglasses to allow visitors to view the 3-D content ranging from broadcasts, movies and educational materials to video games.
A 500-inch 3-D light emitting diode display set up on the main stage played 3D cartoons and the Starcraft 2 League.
“As this year marks the start of 3-D broadcasts by terrestrial TV networks, we will see an explosive growth of 3-D content,” said Choi Sang-gyu, LG Electronics’ executive vice president of marketing.
“We will continue to offer diverse 3-D experiences to customers through more supersized 3D events to establish a foothold to becoming the world’s No. 1 in 3-D TV sales.”
