Pig farm home for abandoned pups

A closure-threatened animal sanctuary has managed to secure new premises to keep helping abandoned pets. The Busan Abandoned Pet Sanctuary was facing the prospect of losing its accommodation for street animals as the lease on its original premises was not being renewed.

But now BAPS is set to move to its new home in an old pig farm this September.

The charity is now looking for architects, engineers or people with other professional training to help them find the best layout for the building

BAPS organizer Leo Mendoza thanked the expat communities in Busan and Ulsan for their support, saying: “Thanks to the hard work of our volunteers, and support of our friends, we have raised enough money to cover the move.”

But he added: “As the site is smaller. We figure we will only be able to have 13 cages where we currently have 18. This means our capacity will be reduced so we will need to rely on fosters much more.”

Anyone interested in helping or fostering a pet can go to shindogs.org.
