Korean stars to grace charity soccer match

K-pop stars JYJ and actress Han Hye-jin are to perform at Park Ji-sung’s charity soccer match in Vietnam.

The game to be played at a stadium in Ho Chi Minh city on June 15 will be the first ever Asian Dream Cup organized by the Korean soccer star’s charity foundation.

JYJ are to perform at half time at the match against Navibank Saigon, and are also to participate in a Vietnamese boy’s soccer session scheduled for the day before. Hallyu star Han Hye-jin, star of MBC’s “Jumong,” will also endorse the game.

Park has officially confirmed with Vietnam Football Federation that he will come to Ho Chi Minh City on June 14 for the friendly Asian Dream Cup match at 6 p.m. the next day. A special donation ceremony is then scheduled to be held on June 16.

The match is to feature active and retired football stars from South Korea and other Asian countries.

Park, who plays for Manchester United in the European Premier league, set up the JS Foundation earlier this year. The first ever Asian Dream Cup has been arranged to help improve the soccer environment in South-east Asia and nurture talent in the regions’ young players.

“Our vision is to help globalize South Korean football and to share happiness through the sport,” Park said in a statement on launching his charity in February this year.

Park is set to officially announce the line-up for his charity team after the European Champions League final match between Manchester United and Barcelona at England’s Wembley Stadium in London on May 28.
