G-Star 2016 gaming convention to take off in Busan

BUSAN -- Global gaming convention G-Star is slated to take off in Busan from Thursday, showcasing the latest games and technologies as well as hosting diverse game competitions and promotional events.

G-Star 2016, the biggest in its history, will feature more than 2,700 booths, including those for public enjoyment as well as business partnerships, the G-Star Organizing Committee said Wednesday. A total of 653 game-related companies from 35 countries are partaking in this year’s show.

Leading PC and mobile game-makers, such as Korea’s Nexon and Netmarble Games, as well as the Korean unit of China’s LongTu Game, are scheduled to unveil new games and programs. Kakao, Naver and MGame are scheduled to set up outdoor booths of their own as well.

Another key highlight of this year’s G-Star is virtual reality. Visitors will be given a chance to experience cutting-edge gaming gears such as the latest virtual reality headsets. A specialized exhibition cluster focusing on VR technology will be organized as well.

This year’s event will be aired live around the world via video streaming platform Twitch. The live broadcast will be available in English, according to the committee.

G-Star 2016 will run from Thursday to Sunday at the Bexco exhibition center in Busan. For more information, visit http://www.gstar.or.kr/index.asp
