LPGA Tour set to make annual stop in Korea

The LPGA Tour will make its annual South Korean stop this week, with the majority of the world’s top players in action in the west coast city of Incheon.

The Ocean Course at Sky72 Golf & Resort, adjacent to Incheon International Airport, will host the $2 million LPGA KEB-HanaBank Championship for the seventh year starting Thursday. It’s the only LPGA Tour event held in South Korea each year.

Amy Yang of South Korea is the defending champion. She defeated fellow South Korean Seo Hee-kyung in a playoff for her maiden LPGA victory.

In the tournament’s 12-year history, there have been seven different South Korean winners, with Choi Na-yeon winning back-to-back titles in 2009 and 2010. (Yonhap)
