Seoul Art College to hold concert

The Seoul Art College presents the “Grand Concert” with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra and Ansan Performing Art Company Choir at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Seoul Arts Center.

Since its establishment in 2003, the arts school has staged its spring concert annually. This year, more than 30 professors from the college are involved in the concert.

The lineup includes pianist Chang Hae-won, who is also the dean of the college, tenor Kim Nam-do, tenor Lee Jeong-won, baritone Seo Jung-hak and musical actress Jeon Su-kyeong.

The concert also features some of the country’s most renowned singers, songwriters and musicians, including guitarist and the leader of rock band Sinawi’s Shin Dae-chul, vocalist BMK and singer Kim Yeon-woo.

A variety of music will be presented during the Saturday afternoon concert, including Edward Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance Military Marches Op. 39, “Brindisi” from Verdi’s opera “La Traviata,” and Beethoven’s Triple Concerto in C major, Op. 56 and Symphony No. 9 “Choral” Op. 125.

Also, Harold Arlen’s “Somewhere over the Rainbow,” “All I ask of you,” from the musical “The Phantom of Opera,” and ABBA’s “I Have a Dream” will be performed. For more information, visit www.sac.ac.kr or call (02) 3453-5566.

The SAC was established in 2003 with the aim of becoming Korea’s answer to the Juilliard, fostering specialists in arts. It operates 12 departments specializing in entertainment, contemporary music, dance, fashion, beauty, musical, acting, performance production, CCM, comedy and modeling.
