Samsung named best employer in Latin America

Samsung Electronics said Tuesday it has been named the best employer in Latin America by Top Employers Institute, a global HR certification agency based in the Netherlands.

Samsung Electronics Brazil has won the award every year since it received the honor for the first time in 2014.

Last year, four branches in Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Colombia were named the best employer. This year, two more branches in Panama and Mexico joined to win the industry’s top honor.

Top Employers Institute picks “Top Employer” around the world every year based on nine categories, including wages, work benefits, education programs and corporate culture.

Winning the award is also expected to help Samsung attract more talents in the region, the company said in a statement.

Since its entry in 1971, the Korean tech giant has continued efforts to improve working conditions and training programs for locally hired employees.

The company dispatches employees to its Seoul headquarters through an exchange program called Global Mobility, while it also operates an open recruitment system in some countries, including Brazil.
