FITT released Beta Test Gym at SPOEX 2016

FITT (CEO: Andrew Hong), a startup that develops solutions for fitness tests, participated in SPOEX (Seoul International Sports & Leisure Industry Show) 2016 from February 25 to 28 at the COEX in Seoul. The startup is a software development company that creates software that measures and analyzes the user’s health indices based on statistical fitness tests and offers fitness solutions tailored to the user’s needs. The software developed by FITT utilizes ICT and data technology, including GPS.

The fitness test is divided into three parts—running, movement, and muscular strength—and is currently conducted via treadmills at fitness centers. However, after the companion mobile application is completed in August, it will be possible to conduct the test outdoors using only a smartphone. The format and measurement techniques of the test are based on sports science.

The running test measures how quickly the user can run 2.4 kilometers and how far he or she can run in 12 minutes. Both results are recorded in a data platform specially designed by FITT. The recorded test data are then compared with averages of accumulated data based on the same conditions, after which the user is provided with specific directions outlining a running program that is tailored to his or her needs in addition to a step-by-step guide. The user’s cardio-pulmonary functions are also measured, and, based on the results, the optimum running distance, or “safe zone,” for the user is calculated, taking into account any existing diseases or ailments he or she may have.

The movement test analyzes the position and alignment of each part of the body and offers appropriate posture correction exercises for each. Next, the results of the muscular strength test are used to calculate the optimum lifting weight, number of sets, and even the amount of time to rest between sets for each level of the user’s personal muscle development regimen. While the primary objective of hospital health check-ups is catching diseases in the early stages, FITT’s fitness test emphasizes finding and executing solutions for any health issues discovered.

FITT CEO Andrew Hong stated, “We are currently operating primarily through fitness centers in Korea, but we are also actively seeking ways to enter foreign markets. In April, we will be participating in Germany’s FIBO, the largest fitness-related expo in the world, together with our partner, a domestic hardware company.” FITT is sponsored by the Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy & Innovation.
