Model and actress Hong Jin-kyung revealed personal stories about her seven-year fertility treatment on an episode of the reality show “Healing Camp” that was aired on SBS on Monday.
“My husband is a fifth-generation dokja (only son) and we did not have a baby for the first seven years,” Hong said during the show.
“I did everything I could. I engaged in test tube therapy for seven years, and it was excruciating. My sister had tried the same therapy for one year and then gave up. She was amazed by the fact that I held on to it for seven years.”
The actress shed tears as she confessed that the seven years of fertility therapy were so painful that she did not even want to think about it again.
“To get pregnant (through test tube therapy), you get injections for a whole month, have (eggs) extracted from your body, and have them stuck back in after a while. One cannot get the therapy more often than once in three months, because the therapy puts lots of pressure on the body.”
“Anyone who has tried the test tube fertility treatment should know how excruciatingly painful it is,” she added with tears in her eyes.
