Chinese actress Tang Wei and Korean filmmaker Kim Tae-yong recently tied the knot in a formal wedding ceremony in Hong Kong, Kim’s agency Bom Film Production said on Tuesday.
Earlier, the couple secretly held a private, informal wedding event on July 12 at the estate of legendary filmmaker Ingmar Bergman on Faro Island, Sweden.
This time, their wedding ceremony in Hong Kong was attended only by their families.
“As we began our new journey together, we not only began with a strong will, but also faced fear as well,” said Tang and Kim in a statement released by the agency. “But we are ready to walk together, hand-in-hand with love and respect for one another.
“Thank you for understanding and encouraging us even though we couldn’t share all the parts of the ceremony,” they added.
The agency also released photos of their wedding in Hong Kong.
The 35-year-old Tang, who rose to international stardom through Ang Lee’s “Lust, Caution,” met Kim, 45, through the 2009 film “Late Autumn” as actress and director, respectively. After the film, they maintained a friendship until October 2013, when Tang visited Korea for a commercial shoot. From then, they grew as a couple and announced their engagement in July.
