The Migrants Arirang Music Festival will kick off in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province, Friday for a three-day run that culminates with a nationwide singing contest for expats here.
The festival features a variety of cultural events, including screenings of international films, cultural performances, exhibitions and an international bazaar for food and cultural items.
The singing contest is a nationwide competition that involved 11 preliminary rounds in cities across the country in spring and the semifinals in August. At Sunday’s final, winners will be given cash awards, with a total of 13 million won ($11,800) in prizes.
After the singing contest, there will be a multicultural parade and an Asian pop concert.
