Environment ministers gather to tackle disasters

The environment ministers of Korea, Japan and China gathered to discuss environmental issues the three countries face and seek joint-measures against them at BEXCO in Busan, Thursday.

Korean Minister Lee Maan-ee; Zhou Shengxian, chief of Chinese Ministry of Environmental Protection; and Shoichi Kondo, senior vice minister of environment of Japan started with bilateral meetings.

Lee offered strengthened collaboration among three countries on the protection of biodiversity and water industry promotion, as well as Korea’s preparation to host the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s World Conservation Congress next year. During his talks with the Japanese counterpart, he suggested that the two countries share information about radioactivity pollution from nuclear plants in Fukushima and seek joint countermeasures.
