Samsung holds Galaxy S6-inspired runway show

Samsung Electronics Co. said Wednesday it held a fashion show with looks inspired by its latest smartphones, the Galaxy S6 and its offbeat sister Galaxy S6 Edge, slated to hit shelves early next month.

Held on the sidelines of Seoul Fashion Week 2015, the Galaxy S6 First Look event on Tuesday presented dresses in colors of the new smartphones: white, black, gold, blue and green. Samsung is set to release the new handsets on April 10.

"We are pleased to introduce the beautiful design and colors of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge," Samsung said. "We plan to continue various collaborations with the fashion industry in the future."

Samsung said last month it will work with Swedish furniture maker IKEA Group on wireless-charging technology for smart devices through furnishings. The announcement followed the debut of two Galaxy devices that come with built-in batteries capable of being charged without cords, a technological breakthrough for the industry.

Samsung has been warming up for its official launch of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, allowing users to test the devices at several spots in Seoul. Local mobile carriers are set to receive pre-orders starting April 1.

While locals prices for the models have not yet been decided, Samsung said earlier the 32GB-edition of Galaxy S6 will cost 49,900 Indian rupees ($800) in India, and that of the Galaxy S6 Edge with the same capacity priced at 58,900 Indian rupees. (Yonhap)
