Gov‘t to open financial information portal

South Korea's state financial watchdog on Tuesday said it will launch a new far-reaching financial information service next month as part of efforts to bridge the information divide.

"The Financial Information Network, http://fine.fss.or.kr, will offer financial consumers various kinds of useful information, which is necessary in making financial transactions," the Financial Supervisory Service said.

The portal is scheduled to open Sept. 1, it added.

The FSS and some public and private financial groups have already provided finance-related information on separate websites.

But FINE will offer integrated services through links and easier access via major search engines, such as Naver and Daum, the FSS said.

"Through the integrated web portal, we plan to provide invaluable and practical financial tips," it said.

The FSS will also start an online consulting service in January next year in order to help people obtain information and advice necessary to prepare for retired life. (Yonhap)
