The Royal Asiatic Society Korea Branch will host a talk by Stanford Ph.D. candidate Jacob Reidhead on the political machinations in Korea.
His talk will cover his research into the games, gambits and intrigue that occur out of the public eye. He will also highlight the impact and interaction of the three informal structures -- camps, factions and nomination patronage -- in contemporary Korean electoral politics.
Jacob Reidhead is researching for a Ph.D. in Sociology at Stanford University.
Prior, he studied North Korean human rights organizations in South Korea as a Fulbright junior research fellow, and before that spent five months in North Korea as a food monitor for Mercy Corps.
The talk takes place Tuesday at the Residents Lounge in Somerset Palace near Anguk Station in Seoul. Admission is free for the society’s members, 10,000 won ($8.50) for nonmembers and 5,000 won for students.
