LG Display CEO Han Sang-beom said Monday that the company will focus on extra-large, ultra-high-definition and curved displays next year.

“This year can be summed up in one word: struggle. All our employees have wisely overcome challenges by easing concerns raised by markets,” Han said during a ceremony with around 1,000 employees to present this year’s innovation performance and to prepare for next year at its Paju plant in Gyeonggi Province.

As a driving force of LG Display, the ceremony has been held for 15 years to share innovation outcomes and to push ahead with new innovation activities.

CEO Han said, “For television segments, we need more thorough preparation for extra-large, ultra-high-definition and curved products. We must redesign our portfolio with competitive product lines and maximize management performance by partnering with strategic clients.”

He added, “As for production line, we should be ready for quality and production for new technologies and new processing including high resolution. We need to maximize the synergy of each division to succeed in our Guangzhou plant.”

He emphasized the ceaseless endeavors needed by all employees as 2014 is likely to be a tough year.

The company also held an award ceremony for Tear Down & Redesign. TDR is LG’s unique innovation campaign that forms a team of relevant specialists to address specific projects. It is designed to achieve a goal by identifying fundamental causes and by thinking outside the box.
