Psy to team up with ‘Gangnam Style’ director for new ‘Daddy’ MV

International K-pop star Psy is once again joining hands with the director who produced the music video for his viral hit “Gangnam Style” for the upcoming new single “Daddy.”

Psy is currently planning out the music video with director Cho Soo-hyun, the man behind the “Gangnam Style” and “Gentleman” music videos, according to an industry official.

“The music video of ‘Daddy’ will feature Psy’s particular humor and comical style,” the source said. Unlike “Gangnam Style” and “Gentleman,” “Daddy,” as the title hints, is expected to “embody a touching message about a father-son relationship.”

Anticipation is running high for what kind of music video the team will bring this time and how much popularity it will gain. Their past productions have set stunning records with “Gangnam Style” racking up over 2 billion views on YouTube and “Gentleman” over 700 million.

Though exact dates have yet to be confirmed, “Daddy” is expected to be released by late August.

Last month, Psy announced that “Daddy” would drop this summer through a message at the end of the music video of “Hangover,” his latest single featuring legendary hip-hop star Snoop Dogg.

Meanwhile, Psy is slated to perform at the “AIA Real Life Now Festival” at the Olympic Stadium at Jamsil Sports Complex on Aug. 15, alongside fellow YG Entertainment artists and global pop star Lady Gaga.
