The Egyptian Embassy is offering free Arabic language lessons for beginners.
The classes, conducted in English, are offered every Tuesday at 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Egyptian Embassy in Hannam-dong, Seoul.
Arabic is the official language of 26 states, making it the language used in the third most countries after English and French, according to The New York Times Almanac.
These 26 countries represent nearly 280 million people who speak Arabic as their first language.
Arabic has lent many words to other languages of the Islamic world, like Hausa, Hindi, Malay, Persian and Turkish.
During the Middle Ages, it was a major vehicle for communication in Europe, especially in science, mathematics and philosophy.
As a result, many European languages have also borrowed many words from it.
On the flip side, Arabic has also borrowed words from other languages including Greek, Hebrew, Persian, Syriac and Turkish.
