Son Yeon-jae wins ball gold in rhythmic gymnastics

Rhythmic gymnast Son Yeon-jae won the gold medal in ball at the Universiade on Monday, her third title at the competition.

Son scored 18.250 points to clinch South Korea's first gold medal in the apparatus at Gwangju Women's University Gymnasium.

Ganna Rizatdinova of Ukraine followed with 18.100 points and Maria Titova of Russia was third with 18.000 points.

She earlier picked up the titles for all-around and hoop at the Universiade. In the all-around final, which doubled as qualifiers for each apparatus, she ranked first in all four: hoop, ribbon, clubs and ball.

Finals for clubs and ribbon will take place later Monday. (Yonhap)
