South Korea's education minister will deliver a keynote speech at this year's annual international meeting for government innovation to be held next week in Dubai, the education ministry said Thursday.
Hwang Woo-yea will promote South Korean education as the driving force of the country's development during the third Government Summit to be held from Feb. 9-11, the ministry said.
This year's event titled "Shaping Future Governments" will focus on how governments can handle a changing world with some 3,000 figures from 87 countries participating, according to organizers.
Among other speakers are the United Nations chief Ban Ki-moon, Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum, and Queen Rania of Jordan, they added.
During his stay in Dubai, Hwang will hold talks with his counterpart from the United Arab Emirates, Hussein Ibrahim Al Hammadi, to discuss ways to facilitate personal exchanges between the two countries and support the Arabic country's program to cultivate teachers.
Hwang is also scheduled to hold a meeting with Korean youth working in Dubai.
Ahead of his visit to Dubai, the education minister is to make a two-day visit to Ethiopia from Friday.
He is scheduled to pay a visit to Ethiopian prime minister Haile Mariam Desalegn to thank the country for sending an imperial guard to fight for South Korea during the 1950-53 Korean War. (Yonhap)
