Women’s self-defense course to run in Daegu

Two expats are launching their third women’s self-defense course next week.

Nick Heroux and Fish Finch together have more than 25 years of experience in several mixed martial arts disciplines, with black belts in taekwondo, hapkido and kickboxing, on top of years of experience in wrestling and karate.

The MMA background of both instructors influenced the concept of the course, which includes elements from wrestling, muay thai, Brazilian jiujitsu and self-defense basics.

The course will run for three weeks from 3-6 p.m. on Sundays, starting Jan. 12, at the Daegu MMA gym near Jukjeon Station.

Heroux, who has lived in Korea since 2007, said the course was designed for expatriate women and English-speaking Korean women and was set up to support the community and to give something back.

The seminars are free, but participants are asked to make a donation.

For further information or to sign up, search for the Facebook event page under “Daegu Women’s Self Defense Seminar” or call 010-7637-7783.
