Swedish princess to marry next June

Sweden's royal family says Princess Madeleine's wedding will take place on Saturday, June 8, at the Royal Palace chapel in downtown Stockholm.

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia's youngest daughter was engaged to U.S.-British boyfriend Christopher O'Neill, a 38-year-old New York banker, in late October. The 30-year-old Madeleine is fourth in line to the Swedish throne.

The royal family's chief spokesman Bertil Tenert said Sunday that wedding organizers will now start planning details of the nuptials. He added that Madeleine's wedding will be smaller than Crown Princess Victoria's wedding two years ago in Stockholm.

The Swedish royal family has only ceremonial duties, such as supporting charities and promoting Swedish businesses. (AP)

미모의 공주, 평범한 회사원과 결혼

스웨덴 왕실은 마들렌 공주가 미국 은행가 크리스 오닐과 내년 6월 8일 결혼한다고 밝혔다.

현지 타블로이드 신문 '익스프레슨'은 23일(현지시간) 결혼식이 스톡홀름에 있는 왕궁 교회에서 열릴 것이라면서 칼 구스타프 16세 국왕과 실비아 왕비의 협의를 거쳐 혼인날짜가 결정됐다고 전했다.

스웨덴 왕실에 정통한 소식통은 TT통신과 인터뷰에서 결혼식 장소가 빅토리아 공주의 결혼식 때보다 훨씬 작은 점으로 미뤄 볼 때 이번 혼인 예식은 양가 친지 위 주로 참석할 것이라고 말했다.

마들렌 공주와 런던 태생인 오닐 사이의 염문은 지난 2년 동안 지속됐으며 이들 커플이 오닐의 뉴욕 아파트에서 작년 가을 이후 동거해 온 사실이 올해 밝혀지기도 했다.

마들렌 공주는 아동 권익을 위한 비영리 단체에서 일해왔으며 오닐은 노스터캐 피털의 파트너이다.
