UFO conspiracy leader held in Caribbean

The German leader of a UFO-conspiracy sect has been arrested in the Dominican Republic following a gunbattle with police during which one person was killed.

Three officers also were injured in the shooting when police, justice officials and members of Interpol attempted to execute a search warrant for illegal weapons at a villa near the tourist town of Sosua, The Local.de reported Thursday.

Police arrested Peter Brunck of Rhineland-Palatinate and a woman who was reported to be wearing a bulletproof vest.

Brunck is reported to be the leader of the Academy for Future Health, which operated a website until May that claimed governments had hidden decades of secret contact with beings from other worlds.

The gunfight, during which police said high-caliber weapons were used, was reported to have gone on for an hour, leaving dead another German man who also was wearing a bullet-proof vest. He has not been publicly identified.

Once inside the villa, police said they found a large number of guns. (UPI)

브렁크는 미래건강학회(Academy for Future Health)의 지도자로 알려져있으며, 미래건강학회는 5월까지 웹사이트를 운영하고 있었다. 해당 웹사이트는 정부가 수 십 년 동안 외부세계의 물체와 접촉하고 있는 것을 숨기고 있다고 주장했던 것으로 드러났다.

총격에는 첨단 무기가 사용되었다고 경찰은 전했다. 한 시간 이상 진행되었으며, 방탄조끼를 입은 또다른 독일인이 이 과정에서 숨졌으며 신원은 확인되지 않았다.

경찰에 따르면 문제의 별장에 들어서자 수많은 총들이 있었다고 한다. (코리아헤럴드)
